I can’t remember where I was, but I can remember what I did. I had fashioned a little boat out of leaves and bark and placed it into a steam of water. I followed the makeshift boat downstream and made sure nothing was present to impede its trip. Before long, the little boat was out of sight. Think with me about that little boat.

The boat represents the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel boat flows downstream on the river of relationships. Our heartbeat must be to keep anything from stopping the Gospel as it flows through our lives. The gospel boat is likewise supposed to flow through our lives as married couples. Paul makes it clear in the New Testament that marriage is a picture of Jesus Christ and the church. Therefore, when people look at our marriages they should have reflected back to them a love like that of Christ and His church.

Marriage in the Red is not written only for marriages that are in trouble. The end result of this book is to see marriages become an unimpeded stream for the Gospel of Christ to flow influencing those who do not know Christ. Your marriage can actually become an influence for God’s kingdom! So here is a major question: How well is the Gospel of Christ flowing through the streams of your marriage?
